Write What You KNow

They say “write what you know”.  And I am.

There is so much more to this world, to existence than the daily things of earning a living, raising children, enjoying family and friendships. More than heartache, than the pain of our beginnings or endings. There is magic. There are women of magic; women who do magic, and they walk among us. Women who know the veil between worlds is thin; they know this because they walk through it, meeting others, gathering wisdom, and often doing healing work.

When we honor our journey here by listening, by being aware of the signs and wonders, we open our heart to all that lives and breathes. Whether the old tree by the river, the hawk flying overhead or the stones in the midst of an open field. All hold stories, memories and messages for us. We need only to open our heart, to receive and partake of what is there.

These are the ones I know. The women and men I write about. They are those who go deeper into their own self, their experiences and stories. Their hearts are open to learn; to discover new truths, to find love in unexpected places. They struggle, they argue, sometimes even with angels. They are magnificent. They walk with wizards and goddesses.  They want to be known by you and for you to recognize parts of your own self as you read about them.

My books, my world speak to me in a sensual way that colors who I am, and what I know. Music, food, drink, and touch; whether leaning against a tree, sitting on a rock, or touching someone I love, move through me and all that I write and am.  The women and men I write of, they come to me from my imagination, from the goddesses that are part of my world, and from my senses.
