W is for Andra Watkins

I never thought I would live a life where I had the privilege and honour to know amazing authors. But here, I am….friends, not just a fan, but friends with Andra Watkins.

I met her in 2016 at the Cuenca International Writers Conference.  If you know me, you know I do NOT go up to speak to people I do not know. But, I had been charged by one of my favourite people, who couldn’t be at the conference, to give Andra a hug on her behalf.  Friendship! Sometimes it asks a high price! heh heh.  So I did, I went up and gave Andra a hug.

And then I heard her give our keynote address. And, oh my, now I was looking for a reason to give her hugs. Andra is a delightful human being. She has an amazing sense of humour, is super intelligent and a woman who follows her dreams.

not without my father

Andra came back to the conference this year.  And I sat in on her class, front row seat. I made sure I got to the room early because I knew it would fill up fast. And it did. But I was there in the front row, soaking in all that energy and strength that she emanates.

If it sounds like I’m in love with her, I am. She is my friend.  She is a generation younger than I am but I want to be Andra when I grow up.

I’m sorry, I got so caught up bragging about her presence, I almost forgot to tell you she is an author. An excellent one. A New York Times Best Selling Author!  She writes really interesting stories. A variety of them. You are not going to be able to put Andra in a box and say “she does THIS”.  Each book is a delight. Each one different from the others.

And, today is your lucky day. Andra’s book Hard to Die, is on sale for $1.00. Yep, you read that right.  What’s it about?

“No one knows what happened to Theodosia Burr, the fiery daughter Aaron Burr serenades in Hamilton: An American Musical. When she disappeared she fell into an in-between called Nowhere. For her soul to rest, she has one assignment: Help someone navigate a life-changing crossroad or be forgotten forever.

Theo is running out of time when she encounters Richard Cox, a West Point cadet who’s desperate. After someone from Richard’s past presents him with an impossible ultimatum, he has two choices: Return to spying on the Russians…or die.

As Theo and Richard battle adversaries, treachery collides with their growing passion. Can they trust each other enough to elude their enemies? Or are they pawns for a bigger foe determined to destroy them?”

Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?  Head over to Amazon and get your copy. Right now!
